The site for the studio is located on an open field on top of a hill with a 180° view across the green hilly landscape. The site is defined by a group of tall white pine trees.

The studio forms the transition between endless nature and the safety of an enclosed space to work, think, paint, write or play. The interior space and the facade of the building create a continuous balancing act between the perceptions of being lost in nature and being protected by a defined architectural framework.
